being dragged kicking and screaming

Someone asked about "the dying of the light" line. It refers to the Dylan Thomas poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night" which begins, "Do not go gentle into the good night,
old age should burn and rave at end of day, rage, rage against the dying of the light". In Neil Young's "Into the black" he sings, "My my, hey hey, rock and roll is here to stay, it's better to burn out, than to fade away..." Basically, as Dave Grohl put it, "To dust as everything must," but you don't have to go down without a fight.

No query updates today. Looking forward to next week when i can throw myself back into my follow up novel which i'm about half-way into. (Hey, i just keep doing my thing and hope someday someone notices.)

Suffered a self-inflicted haircut wound to the head last night. Those who know me well won't be alarmed as this is pretty much a monthly occurrence and no one can ever tell (my hair being, well, my hair).

Art commissions booked through sept now. After that it will be time to gear up for a Nov show and the dreaded holidays. (i apologize, no one should even utter that word in June!) I have a new idea for handling both commission requests and all those people always asking why i don't have a website; an exclusive emailing list offering first viewings of new work with a chance to make an appointment or attend an open house to come see in person. Then i can go on blissfully making whatever pops into my poor brain, leaving the creative process as untainted as possible, and give those interested in a large work "first dibs". So far it's an idea not a policy but i'm liking it.
